New Zealand and
Mexico business ties
Mexico is New Zealand’s largest trade partner in Latin America and our twenty-first largest export market overall, with two-way goods and services trade of over NZ$793 million in 2018.
New Zealand’s top exports to Mexico include dairy and meat products, and a wide range of New Zealand companies are also targeting Mexican opportunities in agribusiness, food processing, retail, construction, aviation, mining, health and pharmaceuticals. There is potential for New Zealand technologies to help Mexican businesses lift their productivity and profitability across these sectors.
Mexico and New Zealand have over 46 years of diplomatic relations. In recent years our relationship has broadened from a focus on trade and cooperation within international forums to include a wide range of business, research, political, cultural and people-to-people links.
A major recent milestone is the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), New Zealand’s first trade agreement with Mexico.
